Uwe Seidel

Uwe Seidel (47) is Polizeioberrat (Chief Constable) and Head of Unit at the Ministry of the Interior of the state of Baden-Württemberg, where he has been the manager responsible for the innovative POLIZEI-ONLINE/MEPA-ONLINE project since 1999. The key aim of this project is to establish a comprehensive knowledge management system for the Baden-Württemberg police as a pilot user for the state administration. As well as defining the strategic orientation of the project, which has been implemented as a public-private partnership, Uwe Seidel and his project colleagues also coordinate the working groups throughout the state who design and realise the required work packages. He presents the project developments at many national and international congresses dealing with knowledge management and e-learning and has produced numerous publications. Under Uwe Seidel's leadership, the POLIZEI-ONLINE project has won prestigious awards in major competitions. It has twice been awarded 1st place in the "eureleA" European E-Learning Award: in 2006 for the "Digital Tachograph" concept and in 2009 for the "E-Learning und Blended Learning Project Impact". The project also won the Public-Private Partnership Innovation Award for its successful PPP cooperation with Deutsche Telekom AG.

His commitment has enabled him to create the perfect conditions for valuable cooperations with other states such as the police forces of the states of Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saarland or with members of the Central European Police Academy MEPA (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Germany).
